DIAMOND

 

Diamond, was inspired by characters from the book Watercress but No Sandwiches that Linda had written. It first appeared in December 2005 as a BBC Radio 4 play Diamond Lil. Subsequently in 2006 It was performed as a play with music at the Kings Head Theatre, Islington where It garnered four stars from Nicholas de Jongh. A further run in Brighton in 2013 proved equally successful.

 

“I never thought I'd miss you, you smelly little bugger, but I do. I suppose you don't spend more than twenty years of your life with someone you hate. Not even if their dress sense drives you crazy. Wish you was still here, it's bloody lonely sometimes. Still at least I had you. Me and half the East End.”
